Subject: What is Rage AGainst thE cube faRm?
Quite simply, we're a place for denizens of the IT world to channel their rage and frustration with the everyday madness of life on the cube farm. Really, all these years with all these geniuses working in it, and IT is just as ridiculous and sometimes downright stupid as any other industry. So, this is a site for ITers to give vent to the frustrations. Yeah, people like you! Unleashing their inner Dilbert, BOFH or other alter-ego. Maybe ranting, maybe showing us, your fellow geeks, some way to navigate sanely through the madness, maybe just making the rest of us think. What we're here for is to provide a basic framework. If it helps to think of this as a blog site, think of it that way. If you're really old-school and not used to this web thing, think of us as something like a BBS. If you go back even further than that, think of us as kind of a village square where impassioned loonies stand around and orate on their various topics of personal interest while passersby lob rotted produce. The main thing is that everybody is invited to post. For now, you don't even have to be a registered user to post in several areas of the site!
What do we have?
Well, there are the Rages Pages for going off about the cube farm in general. Post stories/articles, poetry, jokes, cartoons, etc., real or invented about the insanity, stupidity and overall wackiness of life at work. What drives you nuts? Get it out here. We've got Contests where you can win ragin' prizes for your skills in Office Speak, photos in various cubicle categories, and who knows what else might come up.
Because rage alone is not enough, there's Cube Farm Aid, a place to bring together geeks who want to do some good by volunteering their services and NPO/NGOs who can use some IT expertise. Post your geekly credentials or organizational opportunities and find each other here.
We have the Corporate Reviews section where you can post a review of a company where you work now or have worked in the past, to help others decide if they should accept or reject that job offer (as though anyone would reject a job offer these days
If none of the above work for you, join or start a User Group and get some discussion going.
Except where noted, you can even post anonymously (for now). Please consider registering, though, since privileges denied anonymous users include winning prizes, editing your posts and, yes, even voting.
As mentioned, this is a community site. While we neither believe in nor practice censorship, we do hope to keep content somewhat IT-related, and the community is invited to make judicious use of the "Report this page" link. We don't promise to get rid of each and every flagged post, but it will help us find content that can and should be posted elsewhere.
And, of course, we also encourage you to support the effort by clicking on a banner while you're here ;^)
Welcome!
the Rage AGainst thE cube faRm crew
